Alexandria University is one of the largest universities in Egypt, and the third university established after Cairo University and the American University in Cairo. Alexandria University dates to 1938 when it was established as a branch of Cairo University (Fouad I previously) and had initially consisted of two faculties only: Faculty of Arts and Faculty of Law. It was then established as Farouk I University in Alexandria according to the royal decree on 2nd August 1942 consisting of 7 faculties. Dr. Taha Hussein (Dean of Arabic Literature) was the first to take over the presidency of Alexandria University at that time (1942-1944).On July 1952 it was given the name “Alexandria University”, and since then its role has increased through the establishment of new faculties and specializations. Alexandria University now includes 21 university faculties in addition to 3 postgraduates’ specialized institutes. In 2010, two branches of the university were established in African countries, namely: N'djamena branch (Chad) and Tong branch (South Sudan).

Alexandria University aspires to restore the historic status of Alexandria University and to achieve a comprehensive qualitative leap in various fields of knowledge within a framework of noble human values, enabling it to take a leading position in its national, Arab, African, Mediterranean and global environments.

Also emphasizes the building of a modern human being and cultural rehabilitation of the society. And be able to assume leadership positions in all sectors.

- The University of Alexandria, Egypt, was awarded as the best project in the (EU) neighborhood for entrepreneurial skills development.

Application requirements:

First: With regard to applying for university level:

1.  Original and copy of the high school diploma or equivalent.
2.  A copy of the passport provided that it is valid.

Second: For the postgraduate stage:

1.  The original embassy nomination letter.
2.  Original bachelor's or master's degree.
3.  Original equivalency of the Supreme Council of Universities for any of the previous certificates.
4.  A copy of the passport provided that it is valid.

Application and Admission Policy:

The rules and procedures for coordinating the admission of foreign students to Egyptian universities and institutes at the first university-level are determined according to the decision of the Minister of Higher Education as follows:

1. The applicant must be a non-Egyptian (foreigner).
2. The student must apply through the website of the international student coordination system: https://admission.study-in-egypt.gov.eg taking into account that the student writes his name according to the passport, provided that the application starts from May 1 of each year.
3. The applicant must have a high school diploma or its equivalent.
4. Fulfill the papers required to apply.
