It is a city and port in the Red Sea Governorate, Egypt. Its ancient name is Yukos Liman (meaning the Greek white port, Λευκός Λιμήν). Qusayr has a long history spanning more than 5,000 years, and from there Queen Hatshepsut began her expedition to Puntland. In the sixteenth century, Sultan Selim I ruled it and still stands in the form of a statue in the heart of the city. The castle has a strategic military importance and today it is considered a peaceful tourist resort with its sandy beaches, clear waters, coral reefs and water sports.
Quseir is located 138 km south of Hurghada, 139 km north of Marsa Alam, and 73 km north of Marsa Alam International Airport.
