Suez, an Egyptian city, the capital of the Suez Governorate, is located at the head of the Gulf of Suez; It is the largest Egyptian city on the Red Sea. The Suez Canal was named after the city. It was called Qalzam in the past. It is located east of the Nile River Delta, at the southern entrance to the Suez Canal. It is bordered to the North by Ismailia Governorate, to the East by South Sinai, and to the West by Cairo.
