Al-Azhar University launches fortnight-long book fair for students
Egypt’s renowned Al-Azhar University launched its annual book fair, on Wednesday, in cooperation with the General Egyptian Book Organization (GEBO). The fair will run for a period of two weeks until 25 November.
Al-Azhar University president Mohamed El-Mahrasawy said that the exhibition is taking place at the headquarters of the University’s Central Library in Nasr City. He added that the university is keen to hold this annual exhibition to facilitate students’ and researchers’ access to GEBO publications.
El-Mahrasawy thanked Minister of Culture Inas Abdel-Dayem, and GEBO President Haitham Al-Haj for their fruitful cooperation on this year’s book fair.
He added that the exhibition aims to encourage cultural and cognitive richness for university students, and support their ability to think and create. He also said that the fair has been designed to help students acquire the various sciences.
El-Mahrasawy added that reading is the most powerful tool and a means to open students up to new horizons that help them expand their perceptions, and develop their research aspects. It will also ensure that they can contribute positively to society, develop patriotism, and strengthen the values of belonging.
